About us
We are an international, highly-experienced, science-driven team passionate about improving the environment using sustainable bioproduction. We are making valuable products using precision fermentation. Our mission is to permanently disrupt the highly polluting textile industry. Our unique technology combines synthetic biology and bio-manufacturing. Our project was recently awarded the prestigious EU EIC Accelerator award (<3% success rate) highlighting the alignment with high priority EU goals. We are currently looking to build our pilot plant and expand our team.
Your Role
- Bioprocess engineer
- Currently based in Genopole (Evry 91) but moving to our new site in 94 accessible by RER A
- Working within the manufacturing R&D team to support product development activities from pilot to industrialization
- Develop and optimize new and existing fermentation processes for creating chemical products
- Develop and optimize downstream processes
- Propose & implement quality control measures to ensure process consistency/compliance
- Work cross functionally with the wider Synovance team to deliver solutions for on-going projects
Your Responsibilities
- Preforming lab-scale investigations into process and product quality
- Investigating process parameters to identify areas of deviation and/or improvement
- Optimizing workflow processes to maximize manufacturing output, both at lab and pilot/industrial scales
- Keeping an electronic lab book
- Presenting findings/results to both Manufacturing and wider Synovance teams
- Independently working, managing small teams of researchers where necessary
- Ensuring the regular maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Carrying out typical lab administrative duties including stock control, delivery/supplier management, compliance with regulatory policies

- Natural ability to problem-solve and adapt to the requirements of an R&D laboratory in a professional setting
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider, multidisciplinary team
- Good organization skills and ability to be flexible within the working environment
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn
- Ability to multi-task and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment
What we ask
- Bio-process engineering, Biotechnology or related degree
- We accept senior and junior profiles but we require a minimum of 2 years professional experience in a similar biotechnology-focused environment (internships not included)
- Excellent computer skills
- Fluency in both written and spoken English
- Experience with microbial fermentation; experience in gene regulation/protein expression will be an additional bonus
- Previous experience with analytical reactions, purification of products from cell lysates at lab and/or pilot scale is a distinct advantage

Time to complete the interview process: 2-3 weeks
Salary depending on level of experience/qualifications.
